Meet the Owners
Owners, Ted and Lori have both been Rice Lake residents all of their lives. They were married in 1983 and began raising their four children on Ted’s family homestead just 3 miles north of the resort.
Ever since they were first married they had both dreamed of one day owning a resort and are thrilled that their dream is coming to fruition. Ted has owned a successful stonemason business for the past 20 years and has built hundreds of unique stone fireplaces, fire pits, walls, and landscapes. All of his clients have been highly satisfied with his craftsmanship and attention to detail. He retired from his stonemason business last fall and is now the general manager of the resort. His expertise as a stonemason will allow our guests to enjoy beautiful fireplaces and landscaping that are truly works of art!
Lori has been an elementary teacher in the Rice Lake School District for the past 21 years and has been teaching for 25 years now. She is planning to retire in a few years and be able to work at the resort full time along with Ted. Her professional experiences and relationships with all kinds of people: staff members, students, administrators, board members, parents, and community members will help provide excellent customer care and service to our guests. Lori is also very creative and has a unique eye for interior design and decorating.
Together they make quite a team! They have the skills, work ethic, and determination needed to make Stonehaven Cottages a place people want to come and spend time with friends and family!
"Stonehaven Cottages has been a dream and passion of ours for over twenty years."

We want to provide a unique resort with quaint little cottages that offer quality lodging and recreational opportunities on a small wilderness lake.
Stonehaven Cottages is a start-up resort business, providing guests with rental cottages on 40 pristine acres of untamed wilderness located on beautiful Tuscobia Lake.
Our resort offers a year-round lodging experience. Currently, we have only one cottage to rent, but in the next 8-10 years we will be adding 1-2 cottages each year until we have 15 cottages tucked into tranquil private settings overlooking the lake.
Recreational opportunities on and/or near the property include: hiking, biking, fishing, bird watching, boating, cross-country skiing, and nearby snowmobiling and ATV trails. We are
located right next to the Wild Rivers State Trail, and the Tuscobia State Trail is less than 2 miles north of the resort.
Stonehaven Cottages has been a dream and passion of ours for over twenty years. We feel God has been leading us and has fully equipped us to start this new venture, opening many doors to make this resort a reality. It is our goal to serve our guests and ensure a pleasurable, relaxing visit to Northern Wisconsin.
The Land that encompasses Stonehaven is in the area of Northern Wisconsin that was logged by Knapp-Stout and company over a hundred years ago. There are some trees that are on the property that, by the size of them, lead us to believe that they were just starting their long life about the time of the timber harvest of that era. After logging, most land in this area was sold to farmers starting up mainly dairy farms, but also grazing land. You may notice an old corral in the midst of the towering pines on the north half of the property which was used to round up cattle in the fall of the year by the farmer that owned the property at that time.
In recent years, the land was vacated as farmland about 40 years ago and allowed to just rest, waiting for its new purpose. It was purchased by Rick and Kathy Collins in 1995 and several pine trees were planted on the south end of the property creating a new stand of white and red pine trees along with some spruce and other volunteer seedlings.
In 2016, Ted and I were able to buy the property for the purposes of starting Stonehaven. We are forever grateful to the Collins’ for their generosity of selling the property at a price we could afford for the creation of this resort.
"We would like to thank the hundreds of people including family, friends, neighbors, businesses, government entities, and community members that have helped, encouraged, and inspired us to pursue our dream of starting Stonehaven Cottages. We are forever grateful for all of their support and could not have done it without them!”
